Men's Shirt Jackets

Shop men's shirt jackets and shackets from Weatherproof® Vintage

The shacket — part shirt, part jacket — is the ultimate layering piece for transitional weather. Our men's shirt jackets come in flannel, quilted, and sherpa-lined styles, each built with the same attention to comfort and durability you expect from Weatherproof® Vintage.

Whether you call it a shirt jacket or a shacket, it sits perfectly between an overshirt and a light jacket. Wear it open over a henley on cool mornings, or button it up as a standalone layer when the temperature drops. Our flannel shackets feature heavyweight brushed cotton with a relaxed fit through the chest and shoulders.

From quilted shirt jackets to plaid flannel shackets, every piece is designed to work as hard as you do. Available in sizes S through 2XL, with free shipping on orders over $99.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A shacket is a hybrid between a shirt and a jacket. It has the silhouette of an overshirt, with chest pockets, a button or snap front, and a longer hem, but the weight, structure, and lining of a light jacket. Shackets are designed to be worn as either a shirt over a tee or henley, or as a midweight outer layer over a long sleeve.

  • A shacket has a shirt-style cut and detailing (button placket, chest pockets, full-length sleeves with cuffs, shirt-style collar) but with jacket-weight materials. A regular jacket typically has different construction details (zippers, snap closures, no buttons, set-in or raglan sleeves, jacket-style collar or hood). Shackets are more versatile in transitional weather and dress more casually.

  • Shackets work in transitional seasons (early fall, late spring) where a full jacket is too warm and a single shirt is not enough. They also work in cold weather as a midweight layer over a long sleeve and under a vest or heavier jacket. The temperature range is roughly 45 to 65 degrees as a standalone piece, lower with a base layer underneath.

  • The terms overlap and are sometimes used interchangeably. An overshirt is closer to the shirt end of the spectrum: lighter weight, often a single layer of fabric, designed primarily as a shirt that can be worn open or layered. A shacket is closer to the jacket end: heavier weight, often lined or insulated, designed primarily as a layer worn over other shirts.

  • A shacket fits looser than a shirt but trimmer than a jacket. It should layer cleanly over a tee, henley, or thin long sleeve without bunching, with about an inch of room at the chest. The hem should hit at or just below your beltline. Sleeves end at the wrist with a cuff that buttons cleanly. Sizing usually matches your normal shirt size, though some prefer to size up if they plan to layer heavily.

  • Most shackets in this collection are machine washable on cold with a tumble dry on low. Some lined or specialty fabric shackets may recommend dry cleaning. Always check the care label inside the garment. Avoid bleach and high heat. Hang or fold rather than crumpling to maintain the structure.
